Flick criticises Süle's current form
The reason: Flick is currently not completely satisfied with the form of the 27-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender and accused him of not fully exploiting his possibilities. "For me, Niki could be one of the best central defenders there is. His potential is huge," said the national coach in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "But I think he's still leaving a lot behind."
Flick wants Niklas Süle to take a step forward in terms of his attitude and mentality. There was already a similar issue before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and even then, according to Flick, Süle's attitude was not 100 percent. How satisfied was he? "I was 90 percent satisfied. But the ten percent that is missing is what makes it. That's what I'm all about," he said in the FAZ:

According to Flick, Süle must "make the most of his potential"
According to Flick, 80 percent would be enough in the Bundesliga with his quality, but the national coach also sees a danger in this. "I think every national player should have the ambition to make the most of his potential. Getting by with less – that's not my mentality."
However, Flick cannot understand the criticism of Joshua Kimmich. As a defensive midfielder, he offers "exactly what we need in this position," he said. "Half a year ago, Jo was a world-class midfielder, and now we're questioning him?" In the DFB team, he is to be used permanently in the middle. You can see in Munich "that he is someone who has a lot of solutions with the ball, has an enormous passing quality, can play the ball really precisely, at the right pace". That's exactly the kind of person the German national team needs in this position. (msb/dpa)
