On Sunday, Sandro Wagner wants to move up to the 3rd league with SpVgg Unterhaching. And after that? There are rumours of a move to Austria.

Munich/Unterhaching – Sandro Wagner's future remains unclear. What is certain is that the 35-year-old will play his last game on the sidelines as coach of SpVgg Unterhaching on Sunday in the relegation second leg to the 3rd league. As a farewell, he wants to make the promotion perfect with his team against Energie Cottbus (we report from the Sportpark in the live ticker). And after that? So far, the ex-professional has not shown his cards.

The former international is apparently not going back to his former club FC Bayern. As several media have reported in recent days, Wagner has given his former club a basket. At Säbener Straße, he was considered a successor candidate for U19 coach Danny Galm. Accordingly, the still Haching coach is already at another club in the word and has therefore canceled the record champions.

FC Liefering parts ways with Fabio Ingolistsch – will Sandro Wagner take over?

As the kicker reports, the trail leads to the 2nd league in Austria. At FC Liefering, the "farm team of RB Salzburg", the contract of coach Fabio Ingolitsch was terminated on Tuesday. And now the effervescent club is looking for a new coach for the talent factory. Sandro Wagner could fill the gap.

The fact that the Hachingers are losing employees to RB Salzburg and FC Liefering would not be new in the suburbs. Karim Adeyemi made his way to the neighbouring country in 2018 to take the next step in his career. Ex-keeper Nico Mantl, currently on loan to Aalborg in Denmark, also decided to move to Salzburg in the winter of the 2020/21 season.

"I'm completely relaxed and have great opportunities. I'll do one thing. Let's see."

Sandro Wagner on his future as a coach.

"I'm through. That was the hardest year of my life. I still have this week, throw in everything I have," Wagner said last Monday when asked about his future. On Tuesday he wants to go on vacation to Italy with his family and dogs. He has apparently not yet decided. "Then I'm sure I'll think about what I want to do. I'm totally open. I just want to learn. And if I just sit in on a year for a year, that's the way it is."

Apparently, the Munich native has no shortage of inquiries. "I'm completely relaxed and have great opportunities. I'll do one thing. Let's see." Wagner does get a little bit crazy after all. At the end of 2024, the eight-time international wants to become his football coach. (Jörg Bullinger)
