Absent for many days, the rain decided to point the tip of its nose during the centenary of the 24 hours of Le Mans. The drivers were obviously not very used to it anymore since some did not anticipate and kept their slick tires. As a result, heads to tails and "straight" ones multiply. After only three hours of racing, former Formula 1 driver Estéban Gutierrez went off the track at the wheel of his Glickenhaus. He paved the way for his counterparts as the number 3 Cadillac, driven by New Zealander Scott Dixon, went to mow the side of the circuit.

These mishaps triggered the exit of the yellow flag and the pit lane of a large part of the cars, which caused a huge queue to get out of the pitlane. At the time of writing, the Peugeot number 94, of which the Frenchman Loïc Duval is one of the drivers, is at the front.
