Started at 16:00, the edition of the centenary of the 24 hours of Le Mans keeps for the moment all its promises with an exceptional battle at the top of the classification between Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche, Cadillac but also Peugeot which has even invited itself on the podium after three hours of racing with the 9X8 n°94 placed behind the two Ferraris n°50 and n°51, in a pocket handkerchief. A small event that was greeted by a standing ovation from the audience.

The battle was raging before the arrival of a thunderstorm just before 19:00 on one part of the circuit while the other portion was spared by showers. The rain trapped several drivers on slick tyres, causing the race to be neutralized.
