FC Bayern Munich is looking for a successor to Hasan Salihamidzic and apparently has a clear favourite for the post of sporting director.

Munich – FC Bayern Munich are still looking for a successor to Hasan Salihamidzic, who was sacked shortly after the Bundesliga season finale. Max Eberl, who has been mentioned again and again, is said to be in pole position for the post of sporting director at Säbener Straße, as reported by the pay-TV channel Sky.

FC Bayern are looking for Salihamidzic's successor

Uli Hoeneß in particular is said to be a supporter of Leipzig's managing director of sport. "I've gotten to the point where I only work with facts. The fact is: I have a contract in Leipzig. The fact is that there was no meeting with Bayern Munich. It is also a fact that we are currently working very intensively on the RB squad for the new season," said Eberl himself about the rumours, which nevertheless do not stop.

According to Sky information, there have been no concrete negotiations between the two clubs or FC Bayern and Eberl. Apparently, the German record champions are also willing to give the 49-year-old time to think about it and wait for a decision – even if a transfer would not be realized until January next year.

However, Max Eberl is not the only candidate for the post of sporting director at FC Bayern Munich. Markus Krösche also continues to be an issue. In an interview with the FAZ, the SBU's sporting director clearly spoke out against a move from Frankfurt to Munich, but is still on FCB's list.

FC Bayern: Krösche not out of the running yet

"You can't prevent certain things, and that includes speculation. But I said weeks ago that Eintracht is my focus and that I really enjoy working here. We've had two exciting years here, and I'm looking forward to everything that's to come," Krösche told the FAZ.

Paolo Maldini, on the other hand, should not be an option as Salihamidzic's successor, as Sky reports. The former world-class defender, who played for AC Milan between 1985 and 2009, was dismissed as technical director of the traditional club just a few days ago. (smr
