The highlight of the 2022/23 Champions League season will come tonight (Saturday) when Manchester City and Inter Milan compete in the final in Istanbul for the trophy with the big ears. The Premier League champions and FA Cup holders can complete a historic treble with a first-ever Champions League win and a tenth treble in European football history, while the Nerazzurri can lift the European Cup for the fourth time and first since the 2009/10 season.
Atatürk Stadium once again hosts a European final, the last being in 2005. Even then, he brought together an English team and an Italian team from Milan, as Liverpool came back from 3-0 down against AC Milan on the way to 3-3 and a huge victory on penalties. The Blues passed RB Leipzig in eighth, Bayern Munich in the quarter and, of course, an impressive display against outgoing champions Real Madrid in the semi-finals. The Italians cruised past Porto and Benfica in eighth and a quarter and, with a double victory over AC Milan in the derby, reached their first final in 13 years. The two teams have never faced each other in an official setting and this is the first time this has happened since that 2005 final.

Pep Guardiola made just one change from the 11 that beat Real Madrid 0-4 in the Champions League semi-final, with Nathan Ake replacing Kyle Walker. John Stones stepped up as a central defender alongside Ruben Dias and will likely join the midfield along with Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan during the match. Up front, Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva were placed under Erling Haaland looking for Andre Onana's net. For the first time in 13 years, owner Sheikh Mansour came to the team's game.
Simona Inzaghi once again came up with a trio of only Italians - Alessandro Bastioni, Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acervi. Henrich Mkhitaryan, who has not played since the injury in the semi-finals, has returned to the squad, but in midfield Marcelo Brozovic continues in his place alongside Nicolo Barella, who has been terrific throughout the season and will try to eliminate the Citizens' possession of the ball. Alongside Lautaro Martinez in the squad, Edin Dzeko was preferred over Romelu Lukaku and will be hoping to subdue the ex he played for more than four years in the previous decade.

The winner of next season's Champions League final will automatically qualify for next season's group stage and be drawn as a group leader, with Manchester City already in that position following their Premier League win, while Inter could jump to Group A.
