Maor Kandil signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday. The 29-year-old right-back, who left Maccabi Tel Aviv, will bolster the champions' defense and serve as a replacement for Daniel Sundgren, the senior right defender in the squad.

After the signing, Kandil told the official website: "Happy and excited to join Maccabi Haifa, a big club with tradition, competing for all the titles. With quite a few players in the current squad, I have collaborated in the past, which will help me with my quick acclimatization. Playing for Sammy Ofer is an experience for every player, certainly when you are a Maccabi Haifa player and I look forward to it. I will do everything to help the team in the challenges ahead."

Maccabi Haifa Professional Director Gal Alberman added: "We are pleased to announce that Maor Kandil has joined the ranks of the team. Maor will add quality to the team's squad, extensive experience and will be extra strength in the dressing room as well. We would like to wish Maor success, a quick acclimatization to the green and many happy moments in the green uniform."

Another player expected to sign for Maccabi Haifa in the coming days is Lior Rafalov. The veteran midfielder will land in Israel during the day to complete medical tests and sign the contract, which will bring him back to Israel after many years in Belgium.

Kandil made his senior debut at the age of 17, playing for Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv, in the Toto Cup of the Israeli National League in October 2010. He then moved to Bnei Yehuda's youth team and in 2013 was loaned to Maccabi Jaffa of Liga Alef for his first full senior season.

He spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Hapoel Nir Ramat Hasharon of the Israeli National League, after which he returned to Bnei Yehuda and played in the media until 2018. After finishing his career in the golden uniform, Kandil signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he played until the end of the past season.

He won two championships with Maccabi Tel Aviv and two cups - one with Bnei Yehuda and the other with the Yellows. He made 121 appearances in the Israeli Premier League and made three appearances for the Israeli national team.
