My Area

19th minute: First big chance for VfB: Führich breaks through on the left and pulls off from an acute angle. The ball spins just past the post on the right.

18th minute: The hosts are making life difficult for the Bundesliga club. Although VfB is superior here, the Balinger have always had a leg in between at the right moment.

13th minute: For the first time, Balingen manages to penetrate the opponent's half – with a free kick. But Akkaya shoots the ball in the direction of the corner flag.

7th minute: VfB run the ball and look for a gap in TSG's close-knit defence. The hosts have shed their initial nervousness and defend skillfully at first.

4th minute: Good start for VfB, who put the Balinger under pressure from the kick-off. Millot, in particular, is an asset in the first few minutes. At the moment, the Stuttgart leadership seems only a matter of time.

2nd minute: The ball wriggles in the Balinger net for the first time, but VfB shooter Guirassy was offside.

1st minute: It starts in the stadium at the Kreuzeiche: Referee Dr. Robert Kampka blows the whistle for the game. There was a small delay in the kick-off, as the net of the Balinger Tor still had to be straightened.

Update, 12:07 p.m.: In terms of the line-up, there was a surprise at VfB Stuttgart: Konstantinos Mavropanos is initially on the bench. The Greek international, who is still behind in training, has recently been the subject of rumours of a move. Also not in the squad is striker Luca Pfeiffer, who is said to be interested in St. Pauli.

VfB Stuttgart vs. TSG Balingen at the Reutlingen Stadium at the Kreuzeiche

Reutlingen - Here we go again. At the start of the competitive season, VfB Stuttgart visit TSG Balingen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. For organisational reasons, the match in Reutlingen will take place at the Stadion an der Kreuzeiche. Kick-off is at 13 p.m.

VfB coach Hoeneß expects Balingen to be an "unpleasant" opponent

Don't underestimate your opponents, that could be VfB's motto for Saturday. Coach Hoeneß warned of an "unpleasant" opponent who "plays man coverage across the entire field". Thus, his protégés will be "extremely challenged", the coach continued.

Alexander Nübel is in goal for VfB Stuttgart

With Dennis Seimen, VfB Stuttgart have a goalkeeping talent that some have expected as a cup keeper. But VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß does not want any experiments for the time being and is relying on Alexander Nübel, who is on loan from FC Bayern Munich. At the press conference ahead of the DFB-Pokal, Hoeneß said: "It's important that he plays. I don't know anything after that. He will be in goal against Balingen and will also start the season as number one."

Stuttgart will have to do without Deniz Undav

With Deniz Undav, VfB recently loaned out a promising striker from Brighton, but he tore a partial lateral ligament in his knee in training. He will be absent from VfB for several weeks, including the start of the competitive season in Reutlingen.
