The days when Romania faced the XV of France every year – and where they sometimes competed, as in 1990 with this historic victory, 6-12, in Auch – are now over. 47 confrontations (and, nevertheless, 8 wins and 2 draws for the Stejarii – the Oaks...) from 1924 to 2000. And only three in the last twenty years, sanctioned by as many severe defeats (the last at the 2015 World Cup). Favorite cousin of the FFR, the Romanian federation benefited from the help of French technicians, sent its best elements to compete in the championship of France. And then, with the transition to professionalism, the ties were loosened at the same time as rugby lost its superb in Romania.
