Festival of goals, this Saturday afternoon at the Beaujoire! In a river match and at times stunning, FC Nantes snatched a precious victory (5-3) against Lorient, on the 6th day of Ligue 1, its first of the season at home. During one of the most exciting meetings since the beginning of the season, the Canaries will have trembled until the end, taking off definitively at the end of extra time.

Before all these adventures, Pierre Aristuy's men had already started their match badly, disturbed by the plan of the Merlus. Coming to place his head on a center from the right, the young Eli Junior Kroupi (17 years old) opened the scoring in the 5th minute, concluding the good orange start. However, the Nantes were able to regain the thread of the match even before the break, thanks to a nice strike from Matthis Abline, in pivot (1-1, 41st).

Mohamed's jewel

But it was on the return from the locker room that the match was definitely packed, dynamited by a very early goal from Eray Cömert. The second half barely started, the Nantes defender rose higher than the others on corner to put his own in front (2-1, 46th). A few minutes later, it was Mostafa Mohamed, the providential man of the Canaries since the beginning of the season, who went for his goal: a jewel of a free kick from 30 meters, which saw his race end in full skylight (3-1, 54th).

The mass could have been said, but the Lorientais, who have also once again brought in Benjamin Mendy, have shown resilience. Romain Faivre, the first, gave hope to the Bretons of a cross strike from the axis (3-2, 75th). Not enough to disturb the Nantes, who then took off again thanks to Florent Mollet, scorer (4-2, 84th) after a magnificent series of dribbles by Moses Simon... A few seconds before Aiyegun Tosin (4-3, 85th) retorted, concluding a beautiful collective action.

A saving penalty

For its last ten minutes, the match then switched to the irrational. The Lorientais thought they could snatch the draw, claiming a penalty for a hand in the box after a strike by Faivre (90+4th), then seeing Isaak Touré's header pushed away by Rémy Descamps (90th+5). But it was finally they who cracked the last, conceding a penalty on a counter. In charge of the realization, Simon did not fail to ratify the victory of Nantes (5-3, 90th + 7).

After a difficult start to the season, this success allows the Canaries to give themselves some air in the standings. Pending the other results of the day, they are now sixth, with 8 points and move ahead of their opponent of the day (6 points).
