The World Basketball Championship was a complete failure for two teams, the one from the United States did reach the semifinals, but there it lost to Germany, and even in the bronze medal it failed to win, a complete failure for the Americans. The person who has taken it upon himself to organize a more worthy team for next year's Olympic Games is LeBron James, who is busy recruiting the biggest stars for the task.
But LeBron can't do it all either. One of the biggest deficiencies in the U.S. roster is a significant player at the center position who will face players like Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas of Europe.
The second team to fail in a difficult position is France, who were eliminated in the group stage by surprising Latvia. The Tricolour looked bad, and most of their disappointment stemmed from Rudy Gobert, who, despite decent numbers, could not carry the team on his back.

One player who can solve this problem for both teams is Joel Embiid. Chin, who holds citizenship in both countries, is under pressure, with each wanting him to join it. Grant Hill, general manager of Team USA, reveals today: "I can say Joel is an amazing player, we really want him and we've had conversations, but he has other options, we'll see where it leads."
One who is expected to strengthen the host team anyway is the young star of the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama, who said in an interview with French media: "I will come to play in the Olympics next year, and my goal is to win the gold medal."
