Preußen Münster will face FC Bayern in the DFB-Pokal. In the goal of the third division club is probably a Munich loan player, whose hour strikes today.

Munich – While the first team was on the Audi Summer Tour in Asia this summer, FC Bayern announced the contract extension with Johannes Schenk until 2025. At the same time, the German record champions agreed on the goalkeeper's one-year loan to Preußen Münster.

FC Bayern probably not satisfied with Johannes Schenk's loan so far

With the opponent in the 1st round of the DFB-Pokal this Tuesday (20.45 CET), Schenk should have been in goal regularly. "For his next step, he now needs regular appearances in the first team, which is why we have decided to go on loan with Preußen Münster," said FCB CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen about the Schenk loan.

The path of the Munich ball catcher will continue to be closely followed, Dreesen added at the time. So it was explicitly pointed out and thus probably also agreed with Münster that Schenk would be used regularly during his loan year. Dreesen and the other decision-makers are unlikely to be pleased with the course of the transfer business so far.

FC Bayern: Johannes Schenk loses goalkeeper duel and is not even allowed to play in the national cup

So far, Schenk has only been given the chance by Münster's coach Sascha Hildmann to put himself in the limelight as a sparring partner for Maximilian Schulze-Niehues. The latter is the seeded number 1 at Hammer Straße. Schenk only sat on the bench seven times in the 3rd league and twice in the Westphalian State Cup.

The fact that Hildmann, who was outraged by the scheduling before the DFB Cup match, does not even attribute the games against the amateur clubs in the national cup to him, should not have been well received at FC Bayern. On this Tuesday evening, however, the time could finally come – against his actual parent club, of all things.

Preußen Münster: Johannes Schenk makes his debut against FC Bayern?

According to Bild, Schulze-Niehues has been in the delivery room with his partner Carla since Monday afternoon, waiting for the birth of their first child. That's why he was absent from the final training session. In contrast to the Prussians, FC Bayern is making a goalkeeper change – and not because of an imminent birth. Daniel Peretz will replace Sven Ulreich between the posts.

Schulze-Niehues had already announced last week that he would not leave his Carla alone under any circumstances: "When it starts, I'll be there. I stand by Carla's side in the delivery room. And guaranteed not between the posts. It doesn't matter if the opponent is Bayern Munich or whatever..." A few hours before kick-off, everything indicates that Schenk's hour will strike on this very special evening. (aoe)
