Table tennis legend Timo Boll lives in a parking lot

At the new sports streaming service Dyn, Boll revealed in the documentary "Dyn Gametime with Timo Boll" that he currently lives in a mobile home in the parking lot of the training center of table tennis Bundesliga club Borussia Düsseldorf. Unlike many successful sports stars, the 42-year-old lives a minimalist life, dispensing with great luxury.

"Because I'm almost always alone, without a family, we said at some point that the motorhome was actually enough. I feel comfortable there and we can save the money. Above all, it is also very comfortable to stand right next to the hall and to have short distances," says Boll with satisfaction about his current home.

Motorhome instead of villa: Boll renounces great luxury

Born in Hesse, he actually lives with his wife and daughter in Höchst in the Odenwald. However, since he has been playing for Bundesliga club Borussia Düsseldorf since 2006, it is easier for Boll to be close to the hall. The short distances to training or games allow Boll to spend more time in his motorhome "living room".

The 16-time European champion also gives the broadcaster insights into his personal daily routine. From breakfast in the camper to game preparations in the cabin. And in between, you can grind your own coffee in the mobile kitchen or analyze your upcoming opponent.

Boll discusses possible end to his career

The fact that Boll, despite his 42 years, is still one of the best, he regularly shows in the club and for Germany. With Düsseldorf, he is in first place in the table tennis Bundesliga after four wins from the first four games, and at the European Championships he won silver with Germany as a team - all after a long injury break. "There is probably nothing else that fulfills me so much and that I will master as well as table tennis," says Boll in the documentary.

Boll also explains how his continued success comes about: "I've learned to be more relaxed over the years. In the end, it's just a sport. If you look at it too doggedly, it can also inhibit." Boll is currently postponing a possible end to his active career "as far as possible". But it is also clear to him that "it will come. Of course, I am aware of that. I'm secretly thinking about what might happen after that." (LuHa
