The seventh round of the Spanish league began on Tuesday evening with Barcelona trying to widen the gap at the top over nearby Girona and Real Madrid, which lost the derby to Atlético. Earlier, Sevilla recovered from a bad start to the season with a 1-5 win over Almeria from the bottom of the table.

After a difficult season for the Europa League winners in the domestic framework, Sevilla were hoping to start the 2023/24 season in a better way than the current situation. The rapid decline that began with 3 league defeats and a loss to Manchester City in the European Super Cup, brought the Andalusians to the bottom of the Spanish league, until a narrow victory over Las Palmas and a draw in the previous round with Osasuna kept Sevilla above the red line. Fortunately for Sevilla, they met the only team without a win in the league tonight and exploded. Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring in the seventh minute with the first goal, Dudi Lukebakio doubled within a minute and Suso scored with a great kick before the break (38). Eric Lamela (51) completed the Andalusians' fourth, before Luis Suárez only chipped in (71) from the white spot and Kiké Salas (90+2) sealed the final score. Sevilla climbed to 11th place, Almeria still deep at the bottom of the table.

Mallorca vs Barcelona 1:2 (2nd half)

Real Madrid's loss to Atletico in the Spanish capital derby left Barcelona at the top of the table, and even after visiting Mallorca, the champions will be hoping to open a gap over Girona, and certainly the Blancos. The hosts have one win this season, over a weakened Celta Vigo, and the last time they beat Barca was at the end of the 2008/9 season. The Catalans will come into the encounter on a 6-game winning streak, including an impressive turnaround against Celta Vigo, and with the Joao duo – Felix and Cancelo – in great form since signing for the club, they do not want to stop against a team from 16th place in the table. Frenkie de Jong, who is injured and could miss the Clasico with a month-and-a-half absence, joined Pedri, who is already injured and will not be available to Xavi of course.

Instead of the two midfielders, Oriol Romeo and Ilkay Gundogan were given places in the 11th with Robert Lewandowski on the bench. Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Joao Felix at the front of the table.
