Hansi Flick's successor has been found: Julian Nagelsmann will be the new national coach – but in a survey he is anything but good.
Frankfurt – Julian Nagelsmann will be the new national coach. So the DFB has found a solution for the Euro 2024, which will take place in Germany. Will the 36-year-old manage to ignite a new fire among players and fans? To revive a new euphoria?

Nagelsmann becomes national coach: Flick's successor found
Hansi Flick had failed in this mission, the 1-4 debacle against Japan sealed his end. Rudi Völler then took over on an interim basis for the game against France – and at least the fans in Dortmund's Westfalenstadion would have liked to see him as national coach for longer. This was confirmed by the chants in the 2-1 win against the runners-up.
So now Nagelsmann. The Upper Bavarian will be the second-youngest national coach of all time. However, the fact that the choice fell on the former coach of FC Bayern Munich is far from being to the liking of all fans. At least, if a recent survey is to be believed.

National coach survey: 24 percent of respondents say they don't know Nagelsmann
The opinion research institute YouGov surveyed 2277 people over the age of 18 in Germany. Only 33 percent of them would support Nagelsmann as Flick's successor. 18 percent of those surveyed are against Nagelsmann as national coach.
The most curious value, however, is certainly the following: 24 percent of people said they did not even know Nagelsmann. Hard to believe - but a clear poll clap for the ex-Bayern coach. 25 percent of those surveyed did not provide any information. Vote for yourself here:

Nagelsmann swept away in national coach survey – desired solution is different
Ignite fires, revive euphoria – the values speak a different language. It is possible that Jürgen Klopp's voting would have been completely different.
The Liverpool legend was and is considered the absolute favorite national coach of the Germans. This was also the result of a survey conducted by IPPEN. MEDIA, in which over 90,000 people (as of 22 September) have voted. More than 27,000 and thus almost 30 percent want Klopp – Nagelsmann is only the second choice with just over 13,000 votes and a good 14 percent.
Nagelsmann and the German Football Association (DFB) will play friendly matches in the USA in October
Perhaps Julian Nagelsmann can win the hearts of the football-weary Germans with good results. He will have his first opportunity to do so in October, when the DFB entourage will embark on their trip to America and play against the USA and Mexico. (akl)
