EC Peiting played its first home game of the Oberliga season. Only a small squad was available against Höchstadt, but that didn't slow down the hosts.

Peiting – When all available players were registered, there was still a lot of space on the match report sheet of EC Peiting. In the first home game of the Oberliga season, opponent was the Höchstadter EC, the Upper Bavarians could only field 15 outfield players, including many youngsters.

However, the youngsters from the Pfaffenwinkel showed no respect for the concentrated experience of the experienced "Alligators" from Middle Franconia and secured the first three points after a passionate performance with a 5-2 victory. On Friday evening, the ECP had narrowly lost to the title favorite Weiden.

"I'm really proud of the guys, they gave it their all," beamed ECP coach Ty Morris after the game. He praised the youngsters: "The young players played a very good game." One of them was Dennis Krutsch, who had a cold during the week and was unable to train, but played. "He really wanted to help the team," Morris said.

The Peitinger got off to a powerful start. Nico Zimmermann got a lot to do in the Höchstadter Tor. Several good opportunities, even in the majority, remained unused. Felix Brassard (9th) narrowly missed and David Diebolder missed the extra shot. Marco Niewollik's solo (15th) didn't bring anything either. In between, however, Peiting's goalie Konrad Fiedler also had to intervene. Shortly before the end of the third, the home side were finally able to celebrate: Brett Ouderkirk prevailed against two opponents, his pass sank Sam Payeur (17th) to make it 1-0.

The middle section started optimally for the ECP – with a shot from the wrist of Ouderkirk (22nd), who hit to make it 2-0. "For us, that was the wake-up signal," said "Alligators" team manager Daniel Tratz. As a result, the guests came up more and more. Patrik Rypar (25th) used the fourth penalty against the Peitinger to overcome Fiedler with a hidden shot to make it 2-1. The gate gave a boost to the guests. Fiedler had to intervene a few times in dire straits. "The neutral zone was far too open," said Morris, annoyed by the preponderance that the highest-ranking players were working for.

The Peitinger also let an almost two-minute double advantage (28th) pass without a goal. The ECP almost brought the narrow lead into the second break. But Martin Heinisch (40th) had something against it: During a supernumerary, the veteran scored from the blue line to make it 2-2 (40th). Even before the third siren, the guests conceded a penalty, which the ECP punished at the beginning of the final round. Ouderkirk shot at the board, Tobias Beck sank the rebounding puck to make it 3-2 (41st).

Höchstadt tried to answer immediately – Fiedler was in the spotlight several times. However, he fended off the great chances of Anton Seewald (45th) and Jari Neugebauer (49th). With a shot by Lars Schiller (50th), which bounced off and almost landed in the box as an arc lamp, he also had the luck of the brave. Another penalty against the guests ended their pressure phase. Captain Andreas Feuerecker, who had gone into the game battered, scored with a violent shot to make it 4-2 (56th). In the end, the Höchstadter took the keeper off the ice for an outfield player. Felix Brassard makes everything clear for the ECP with the 5:2 (59th).
