In her parade discipline, Katharina Trost had not been fooled by anyone in Germany in recent years. Now she is ending her career prematurely.
Freilassing – Katharina Trost declares her career as a track and field athlete to be over. In a post on her Instagram page, she now lets her fans and the general public know that she is saying goodbye to elite sport with immediate effect. This means that the Upper Bavarian is also cancelling her participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Katharina Trost: Competitive sports and work are not compatible
"After two successful but exhausting years with competitive sports and legal clerkship, I have now decided to turn my back on competitive sports," writes the 28-year-old in an article.
The post is accompanied by several pictures from her career, the first of which is in black and white. This, of course, underpins the fact that Trost did not exactly make this far-reaching decision easily. She also makes this clear in her text.

Katharina Trost would have been eligible to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris
After reaching the Olympic standard and cancelling the last World Cup due to illness, she "really struggled with me". However, she is sure that it is still the right decision. "My priorities have changed, so I'm really looking forward to free weekends and spending more time with family and friends."
Trost, born in Freilassing, specialized in middle-distance running and had her strengths especially over 800 and 1500 meters. At the German Championships in Kassel, Trost won her third gold medal in the 1500 meters this year. Previously, she had won two gold medals in the 800-meter relay race. At the German Indoor Championships, Trost won gold in the 1500 meters in Leipzig last year and this year in Dortmund.
