After the derby saga, the Reds exploded against the Slovenes in the first game of the Eurocup season • Manford, Jaylen Hord and Tomer Ginat excelled

Hapoel Tel Aviv opened its European season in the Eurocup with a convincing 73:100 home win at the Shlomo Group Arena over Chadvita Ljubljana.

Dani Franco's pupils started their second season in the Eurocup and picked up where they did last season, when they were one of the best home teams in the factory. Moments before kickoff, the Reds announced that the team's flashy acquisition Kyle Alexander was unwell and his debut would be postponed.

Even in his absence, the hosts had no trouble escaping to a promising double-digit lead in the first half, in a game that was in red control from the opening whistle. Xavier Manford led all scorers with 21 points, Tomer Ginat contributed 18 and Jaylen Hord added 16.

The opponent introduced Italian coach Simona Pianjani, who is remembered by Israeli basketball fans from the 2016/17 season, when he led Hapoel Jerusalem to a second championship in the club's history.
