According to the Dauphiné Libéré, Julia Simon was placed in police custody on Tuesday morning, October 24, in the offices of the Albertville search brigade. The biathlete is the subject of two complaints, filed in December 2022 and June 2023, by her comrade and Olympic champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, for facts dating back to the summer of 2022. Simon, winner of the 2023 Biathlon World Cup, is accused of credit card fraud. A case that shook the whole of French biathlon.
The 27-year-old world No. 1 should be questioned "in light of the results of the investigations" carried out against her, writes the Dauphiné Libéré. "My name was used without my knowledge," Julia Simon defended herself last August, refuting the accusations and assuring that she was also a "victim of this accusation". She has just finished an internship with the France team in Annecy (Haute-Savoie) where Justine Braisaz-Bouchet was also invited. The Biathlon World Cup will resume on November 25 in Östersund, Sweden.
