Almost every sports fan in the world has one favorite athlete, whose name he regularly searches his social networks to see if he has posted anything new about his personal or athletic life. Apparently, despite his young age, tennis star Carlos Alcaraz entered the big list with huge names from several other more senior sports than white sports.
A study unveiled Monday by OLBG reveals Alcaraz has been in the top 10 of the most sought-after athletes over the past year on Google, social media and media. His name was searched for 60 million on a list of sporting celebrities, overtaking Novak Djokovic and becoming the first tennis player.
The leader in the overall rankings quite surprisingly overtaking Leo Messi is Cristiano Ronaldo, with the podium complemented by Neymar and Messi, who won the World Cup with Argentina last year and then moved to Inter Miami. Rafael Nadal, the second Spaniard on the list, appears in 18th place with just over 26 million searches. Rising stars such as Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham are in 13th place with 32.5 million searches and F1 world champion Max Verstappen is 11th with 34.3 million.
The women's rankings are led by three female tennis players: Iga Swiontek, Coco Goff and Emma Raducanu. In fourth place is Barcelona footballer Alexia Fotias.
