For many football fans, beer is simply part of the event. A group of England fans have had a new experience at an away game.
Skopje – Football fans who support their team away from home take the opportunity to try out pubs and bars they don't know. Drinking beer is as much a part of the trip as cheese is to pizza. An English group of fans who made the long journey to Skopje in North Macedonia also had a nice experience.
England fans follow the team to Skopje – and experience an unforgettable beer experience
Although there is nothing more at stake for the team led by captain Harry Kane, who is setting new records in Munich, the Three Lions' most loyal supporters are also at the start. To get in the mood for the kick in the Tose Proeski Arena, a group visited a pub and posted photos of the city. But the buildings or sculptures were not the reason for her opinion that Skopje is "a fantastic city".
Because the boys, who are probably mostly from Stoke, got the beer bill and converted it. They were amazed. "59 pounds for 84 beers" and showed the receipt. With so-called beer towers, the guys saved a lot of money, the equivalent of a beer cost 70 cents. 59 pounds is about 68 euros – so even in Germany the price cannot be compared. Although only 48 beers can be seen on the bill, the fans converted the beer tower into beer and came up with the final sum.
Also because of the price of beer, Skopje is declared "a fantastic city"
There was a great response to the photos and the bill, even a meme page shared the post. The comments under the original post were mostly from amused other fans. "What the hell? You're going to be star-studded by kick-off," one wrote. "I wouldn't make it to kick-off," wrote another. And another follower made the comparison to the expensive home country: "You don't even get five beers in London for that price." The tickets for the away trip are also said to have been affordable at just under ten pounds.

Already at the World Cup in Qatar, the beer-drinking England fans caused a sensation. So while the fans have gone "all in" to the game, manager Gareth Southgate will rather rely on the second guard, which is also peppered with big names. (ank)
