She's back. Fifteen months after a serious knee injury (cruciate ligament and meniscus) suffered at Euro 2022, Marie-Antoinette Katoto is recalled to the France team by coach Hervé Renard. This Friday, he added her to a list of 23 players called up for the last two matches of 2023, against Austria in Rennes and Leiria in Portugal, the final matches of the first Women's Nations League. Les Bleues will qualify for the Final Four if they beat Austria on Friday 1 December.

"It took her a little time to get into a rhythm, with progressive playing time," explains Hervé Renard about Marie-Antoinette Katoto. She still hasn't played a full game. We must be patient with Mary. She is still capable of progressing, we all know that. We will support her in the best possible way so that she can bring us what she knows how to do. With PSG, she returned to competition in mid-September. On Thursday night in the Champions League against Bayern (0-1), she only played one half.

Three notable absentees from Hervé Renard's new list, all injured: goalkeeper Constance Picaud (wrist), midfielders Sandie Toletti (humerus) and Sandy Baltimore (toe). "They should have been on that list," the coach said.

Among the returns, that of Kenza Dali in midfield and Eve Perisset in defence. "The playing time will be important," said Hervé Renard of the Chelsea right-back. Everyone has to think that no place is taken for granted. The competition will be strong in the France team. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there will be only 18 players in the squad.
