Premier League teams continue to strengthen ahead of the first round of the renewed season and on Wednesday two teams came close to strengthening the back line.
Guard Jonathan Davis (27, 1.89) is close to signing with Hapoel Haifa while point guard Shakir Anim (26, 197) is in advanced negotiations with Hapoel Eilat, Israel Hayom has learned.
Davis started the season with the Lithuanian Peak, where he averaged 11.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists in eight games. Haifa are strengthening a player who will bolster the sparse squad in light of the injuries of Amit Simhon, Itai Moshkovitz and the departure of most of the foreign players.
Anim is a point guard who knows Massimo Manti well, Eilat's coach, as he played under him last season in Italian Reggio Emilia, where he averaged 27 minutes on the floor per game, and returned with 9.4 points, 2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25 games in the local league.
