Germany international Jamal Musiala is currently missing due to a muscle injury. However, he is now making progress on the way to his comeback.

Munich – It was a moment of shock for FC Bayern in the victorious Champions League home game against Galatasaray Istanbul: Shortly before the break, Jamal Musiala grabbed the back of his left thigh after a sprint and an unsuccessful ball reception. He immediately signalled that it could not go any further. He had to be substituted in the 40th minute.

Bayern star Musiala with muscle injury in thigh

According to Bild information, Musiala tore a muscle fibre in his left hamstring during the action. For the DFB star, it is already the third muscle injury in his left thigh this year, the bosses feared a longer absence. It was clear that Musiala would be unavailable for several weeks.

As a result, the 20-year-old missed out on the 4-2 home win against Heidenheim last weekend. Julian Nagelsmann will also have to do without the attacker in his first home game as national coach against Turkey and three days later against Austria.

Jamal Musiala back in running training

But Musiala's comeback could happen sooner than initially thought. As Bayern announced, Musiala completed an individual running session at the training ground at Säbener Straße on Friday. Apparently, the 20-year-old is making good progress in his rehab.

According to Bild, Musiala returned to the training ground the day before. According to the report, the national player jogged around the pitch for about 25 minutes with rehab coach Simon Martinello. In the coming days, Musiala will probably continue to work individually on his comeback, while many of his colleagues are still away with their respective national teams.

Musiala comeback sooner than expected?

The home game against Cologne next Friday (24.11) probably comes too early. For the Champions League match against Copenhagen five days later, Musiala could be an option again. He will probably be back on the pitch in the league against Union Berlin on 2 December at the latest – provided the healing process continues to go well.

After the new injury, however, the Bavarians will not take any risks with their jewel. A special examination of the repeatedly damaged thigh can also be considered. "That's what the doctors, the therapists and our rehabilitation and athletic trainers do. We have all the data and all the capacity and quality to get to the bottom of it, in case it's the same place repeatedly," Tuchel said.

Musiala's contract with the record champions runs until June 2026, but the Bayern bosses are already considering how they can convince the 20-year-old to stay in the long term. (LuHa)
