According to a report, Manuel Neuer is returning to goal for the DFB team. However, the Bayern keeper himself denies an agreement with Julian Nagelsmann.
Update from November 30, 9:49 a.m.: Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has denied that he has already spoken specifically with national coach Julian Nagelsmann about his return to the national team next March. "There's no agreement now," said the FC Bayern captain after the 0-0 draw against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League, but stressed: "I'm in good contact with my goalkeeping coach in the national team as well as with Julian, and we all assume that I'll be there if everything goes normally."
Neuer did not want his three brilliant saves in the 87th minute, with which he saved the Munich team from defeat, to be understood as a letter of application to Nagelsmann. "He knows me, he's seen something like that before in training and also in the games," said the 37-year-old, stressing: "That's why I'm very relaxed about March."
Neuer's return to the DFB goal reportedly already decided
First reported on 29 November: Frankfurt am Main – Manuel Neuer's confident performances after his comeback had already fuelled the goalkeeping discussion many months before the European Football Championship – and Julian Nagelsmann is now said to have already decided that the Bayern star should return to the DFB goal.
As Bild reported on Wednesday evening, Neuer's performances have impressed the national coach. He is said to have decided that Neuer will be in goal for at least one of the two international matches in March. So it could be difficult for opponent Marc-André ter Stegen to maintain his place.

Manuel Neuer is expected to be back in goal for the national team soon
The Barcelona keeper has been the number one goalkeeper for the German national team since Neuer's serious injury and has also made it clear that he does not want to vacate this position. But Neuer has also made no secret of his ambitions to be in goal at the home European Championship.
Most recently, there was already a hint when Neuer, as the main protagonist of the DFB team, presented the European Championship match ball in Berlin. There he made it unmistakably clear: "I want to play in this stadium because this is the final." At FC Bayern, he is consistently performing well and didn't let on the fact that he was absent for almost a year.
Neuer or ter Stegen? Battle for the number one spot in goal for Germany
If Neuer actually makes a comeback to the national team in March, the battle for the DFB goal is of course not yet decided. ter Stegen has also spoken out with an announcement.

However, at least two ex-pros agree that there will be no way around Neuer. "If Manuel Neuer comes back, then it's only possible as number one," Michael Ballack recently told Sport Bild.
Sky pundit Didi Hamann echoed the same sentiment: "Manuel Neuer has to be the national team's number one. You can't afford not to let him play." One thing is clear: The goalkeeper question is one of the few luxury problems that national coach Nagelsmann has to solve. (epp)
