Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde are considered a dazzling dream couple in alpine skiing. Now the Norwegian has spilled intimate details of the relationship.
Oslo – Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde are not only doing great on the ski slopes of the world, but the American and the Norwegian have also found happiness together in their private lives.
In early 2021, they finally made their relationship public. The two are considered a winter sports dream couple and a "power couple", as biathlete Tiril Eckhoff and compatriot von Kilde described the duo some time ago.
Ski star Kilde gives intimate insights into relationship with Shiffrin
Kilde has now spoken to the Swiss daily Blick about his relationship with Shiffrin and revealed a few intimate details: "I first met Mikaela during a training camp in Portillo, Chile. I really liked it right away. But because she was only 16 at the time and I was 19, the time wasn't right for a love affair."
"I sent her a friend request on Facebook immediately after this encounter," the Norwegian continued. Shiffrin's father passed away in 2020, after which Kilde said she sent her a long message.

"I wrote to her that I would always be there for her if she wanted to talk to me. From that point on, we had more and more contact. And it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to have a love relationship with this wonderful woman. But somehow I had the feeling that she didn't want that," the 31-year-old told Blick.
Ski star Kilde would move to the USA for Shiffrin
But that changed suddenly, much to Kilde's surprise. "All of a sudden, she confessed to me that she was interested in a relationship with me. And then she asked me if I was interested. Of course, I said yes straight away," confirmed the Norwegian, who was in seventh heaven from then on.

The couple plans the future together. Kilde can imagine moving to the USA for his partner after her career. Will the wedding bells ring then?
"It's still a bit early for me. Both lead very busy lives and we know we're doing well. Maybe it will happen sometime in the future, but now is not the right time for it," said Aleksander Aamodt Kilde some time ago in an interview with the Norwegian daily Dagbladet, initially rejecting a marriage.
