Weather chaos in Munich: The Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin has been cancelled. It's about the safety of the fans.

Update from December 3, 10:59 a.m.: It is still not clear when the match between FC Bayern and Union Berlin will be rescheduled. While Thomas Müller spoke out on Saturday afternoon in favour of a scheduling as soon as possible, the game could also not be played until next year.

Although Bayern and Union have already been eliminated from the cup, the DFL and the DFB may not want the catch-up game to steal the show from the round of 2024 of the DFB Cup. Which is why a date of <> could only be targeted. But that would probably not be in the interest of the two clubs.

Update from December 2, 13:51 p.m.: FC Bayern's match against Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon has been cancelled. It is not yet clear when the game will be rescheduled. However, it is quite possible that the game will take place in the near future.

The reason: Next week, the round of 16 in the DFB Cup will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is generally a fixed DFL date. However, since Bayern and Union have already been eliminated, the Bundesliga game could be made up for on one of these days.

The focus was not so much on the playability of the turf in the Allianz Arena, which is still guaranteed by the turf heating, but on the safety of the travelling fans. Due to the weather, public transport in the metropolis is already suspended until at least 12 noon. This means that there is no longer a safe journey for the fans. In addition, it is not possible to predict beyond doubt what the situation would have been after the final whistle.
