There's always something going on in sport: a table tennis derby was exciting and a dressage rider won German Championship gold. A home match is coming up for the wrestlers of AC Penzberg.
Landkreis - The table tennis players of TSV Weilheim in the Bezirksoberliga came close to a derby success. In the home game against TSV Murnau, the team from the district town went into the final doubles with a lead.
Weilheim table tennis team narrowly misses out on derby victory
However, there was no happy ending: Thomas Zeiler/Peter Kriegenhofer lost 1:3 sets (11:8, 7:11, 4:11, 12:14) against Andreas Hermann/Bernd Ratzenberger. The 8-8 draw gives the Weilheim team a balanced record (3 wins/2 draws/3 defeats) and fourth place in the table after eight matchdays. In view of the narrow gaps in the league, the Weilheimers have to look further back - the gap to the relegation place is only two points.
Against Murnau, the Weilheim team was 1:2 behind after the opening doubles. In the singles, the hosts managed to gain a lead. With four wins in the second round, they had the chance to win the game in the final doubles. Michael Hilken (1-1), Jiri Bugaj (1-1), Felix Bulitta (1-1), Thomas Zeiler (1-1), Peter Kriegenhofer (2-0) and Frank Neumeister (1-1) played for Weilheim. Murnau was represented by: Andreas Hermann (2-0), Toni Erl (0-2), Christoph Rödlbach (1-1), Florian Paul (1-1), Bernd Ratzenberger (0-2), Paul Schmidt (1-1). The final preliminary round match of the Weilheim team will take place on Friday, 15 December, at TSV Unterpfaffenhofen (6:10 points/7th place).
German Championship title for dressage rider Cosima von Fircks
For Cosima von Fircks it was "an unbelievable and great weekend", at the end of which she was also able to receive a gold ribbon. At the German University Championships in the sport of "riding", the 24-year-old secured the individual victory in dressage.
The competitions took place at the Brandenburg State Stud Neustadt/Dosse. Cosima von Fircks, who lived in the district for several years and also competed for RC Gut Adelsried in international competitions, started with the "Student Riding Group Oldenburg". In the team ranking, the troupe took fifth place out of 13 teams with a total of four riders. The title was won – somewhat surprisingly – by the FU Berlin.

Individual gold in show jumping was won by Lara Bürlein (WG Hamburg). First place in the combined (consisting of jumping and dressage) was secured by Louisa Voigt de Oliveira (FU Berlin); von Fircks finished ninth in this classification. Last year, the Bavarian, who currently lives at the Nymphenburg Stud in Bad Zwischenahn (near Oldenburg), finished sixth at the University Championships in dressage.
Only a few days after winning the title in Neustadt, von Fircks was successfully in action in Lower Saxony for TG Bad Zwischenahn. At the equestrian tournament in Osterholz-Scharmbeck she was the second best in the Intermediaire II competition. With the nine-year-old "Nymphenburg's Finest Ampere", von Fircks achieved a result of 67.5 percent. This year, the dressage rider has regularly achieved top places in the advanced class. At the FEI equestrian tournament in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest, for example, she finished third twice with "Nymphenburg's Easy Fellow" – first in the U25 Grand Prix and then the next day in the Grand Prix Freestyle with music.
Wrestlers of AC Penzberg challenged again at home
The wrestlers of the Athletenclub (AC) Penzberg will finish the season in the Landesliga Süd on a midfield position. That is already clear before the final match on Saturday, 9 December, 19.30 p.m., at home against TSV St. Wolfgang. With currently 10:12 points, the Penzberg team is fourth. They could still be overtaken by the team from St. Wolfgang (9:11), which still has two fights to complete. Because last weekend's duel against TV Traunstein was cancelled due to the general weather situation in southern Bavaria.
In recent weeks, victory and defeat have alternated with great regularity for the Penzberg team. The home match against ESV München-Ost was lost with 20:33. Mustafa Karaismailoglu was successful twice in the 61-kilo class. First, he defeated Emanuel Pfaus in the freestyle with technical superiority, then – in the second round – he managed a shoulder victory against the Munich native. The week before, the Penzberg team had won 28-22 at SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos II. Karaismailoglu also scored twice in this encounter, scoring the maximum of eight points for his team. Peter Vierke (130 kilos) and Benedikt Gattinger (66 kilos) also left the mat twice as winners. Martin Welk (75 kilograms) contributed another four points to the away victory, winning in Graeco style against Andreas Walbrun with technical superiority.
On Saturday, 9 December, the Penzberg student team will also host TSV St. Wolfgang. With a win over the bottom of the table, the hosts would make third place in the Bezirksliga Oberbayern/Schwaben perfect.
