Ski legend Felix Neureuther rewards his children for their academic achievements. In religion, however, there is only money for bad grades.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Felix Neureuther is a family man through and through. Together with his wife Miriam, the former ski ace has three children. Daughter Matilda was born in 2017, Leo was born in 2020 and Lotta finally saw the light of day in 2022. Felix ended his active skiing career in 2019.
Ski ace Neureuther pays his children money for bad religion grades
In the "Spotlight - Video Podcast", Felix and Miriam Neureuther give intimate insights into their private lives and talk about their time as professional athletes. "Felix distributes money for fives in religion," Miriam reveals. "You're not allowed to say that out loud," replies Felix Neureuther, who is visibly uncomfortable with what his wife has just spilled.
"He is actively working on turning away from the church," René Adler of the podcast "Spotlight - Videopodcast" interjects with a smile. "But you have to say that my father always did that for me. But I still couldn't fail," explains Felix Neureuther.

"You have to have the grades so well that you wouldn't have failed at all, but there's money for fives in religion and geography," Miriam adds. "It doesn't matter," Felix tries to end the topic and talks about status symbols of athletes after their careers.
Ski ace Neureuther turned his back on the church years ago
Felix Neureuther himself left the church several years ago. The reason for this was an abuse scandal in the Ettal monastery near Garmisch, whereupon he turned his back on the Catholic community. "If there's one thing I'll never forgive in my life, it's when someone comes up with a child. Then I become an animal. Child abuse is the worst thing you can do," he said in 2020 on the Radio Bremen talk show "3nach9."

"I can't pay church tax with a clear conscience," the father of three continues. One problem was leaving the church when he was to become his nephew's godfather, Neureuther confirmed. In the end, however, the priest allowed him to take on this task. (smr)
