Premier League referee Niv Steif, who is on reserve duty as part of the "Iron Swords" war, was seriously wounded Friday night by an anti-tank strike in northern Israel. Niv arrived at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, underwent long and complex surgeries and is currently in stable condition.

Association Director General Yariv Tepper and Professional Committee Chairman Liran Wachsberger visited the family at Rambam today.The Association of Judges embraces the Steif family and will accompany them and Niv until his full recovery.


The judges' union said: "Niv is a promising young judge and a strong and robust young man, and we are confident and pray that he will know how to overcome the injury and continue the course of his life, personal and professional. The union's chairman, Giora Inbar, recently met Niv in the field, and is in contact with the family and various military officials regarding the details of the incident and the expected rehabilitation. The entire family of the judges' union embraces the Steif family and wishes Niv a speedy recovery and a full recovery.
