The former German biathlete, who won two World Championship titles and three medals at the Olympics, among other things, is thus making her announcement from the spring come true. At the time, the 34-year-old said that she wanted to focus on family planning after her career ended – and the plan apparently worked out perfectly.

"Our love grows. We are overjoyed and can't wait to hold you in our arms," the couple wrote alongside the post, which they shared together on Instagram, among other places. However, they did not disclose the gender. In addition to a photo of the two, an ultrasound image is also inserted, the second snapshot shows three different pairs of shoes – one of them for a small child.
