Israel's women's national volleyball team successfully opened the European Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro, on Sunday with a convincing 1-8 victory over Greece and took the first step towards securing a ticket to the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. The first half was in full Israeli control and ended 0-6, including five goals for Ben-David. In the second half, Israel took its foot off the gas and conceded a goal, but that didn't stop them from winning the big game.
Israel will meet Finland tomorrow (Monday), with more meetings against France, Finland and Hungary expected later in the group stage, with the aim of winning the championship and securing the last remaining ticket to Paris, or to rank first behind France and Turkey, who have already secured their place in the games. Israel hopes to achieve its place in the Paralympic Games for the third consecutive time, after Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. In both cases, Israel was stopped in the quarterfinals.
