Les Bleues, led by Julia Simon and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, finished third in the women's relay won by Norway on Sunday in Hochfilzen (Austria), the second stage of the Biathlon World Cup.
Struggling at the halfway point of the race, eighth at more than 1 min 40 sec from the lead, after the penalty lap conceded by Lou Jeanmonnot, the French women finally managed to get back on the podium under the impetus of Braisaz-Bouchet and Simon, the last two torchbearers.
With a total of one penalty lap and eight draws, Les Bleues, started for the first time by Gilonne Guigonnat, finished just over a minute behind Ingrid Tandrevold's Norway, who won after using six draw points.
The Sweden of sisters Elvira and Hanna Oeberg came between the two, about thirty seconds behind, with ten pickaxe balls used.
The French women finished fifth in the first women's relay of the season at the end of November in Östersund, Sweden.
