When will Thomas Müller extend his contract with FC Bayern? Or will the home-grown product change in the end? If Christoph Freund has his way, there will soon be clarity.
Munich – FC Bayern without Thomas Müller is actually unimaginable. Nevertheless, it is still not clear whether the "playing legend" will extend his contract with the German record champions, which expires in 2024.
First round of negotiations between Bayern and Müller collapsed
After the extensions with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, however, the Müller case could also get moving relatively quickly. In the Bild podcast "Bayern Insider", Christian Falk reveals that sporting director Christoph Freund is keen to extend his contract with the Bayern homegrown.
There should already be a concrete timetable for the talks. Actually, a first exchange between the player's side and the club was already planned, but was postponed due to the snow choas in the Bavarian capital in recent days.

Freund wants to extend with Müller before Christmas
However, Freund and the Bayern officials are planning to extend Müller's contract before Christmas! The Austrian had often praised the 34-year-old in public in the past and expressed his appreciation for him. "As a player, he's a legend, he's part of FC Bayern," Freund said recently.
However, the sporting director also stressed that he had to fit all sides. Müller had been rather reserved in public on the subject of contract extensions and only stated that he wanted to continue his career until at least 2025.

Müller announces talks with Bayern officials
However, his first point of contact will definitely be FC Bayern. The Upper Bavarian confirmed this once again to Die Welt. "The mutual bond between Bayern and me is enormous. We will hold talks," Müller said of the upcoming contract talks. "Let's see what happens." It's quite possible that everything will happen very quickly now and Müller and Freund will give each other a signature for Christmas. (kk)
