Shopping at the local supermarket used to be a big challenge for Felix Neureuther. Luckily, there was always help – from nice, older ladies.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Felix Neureuther was a top skier in his active days, and it was already clear during his career: The Upper Bavarian will continue to be in the spotlight after his career. The jack-of-all-trades has many projects, such as working as a TV expert, realizing himself as a book author or conveying to the next generation with his foundation how important exercise is.

Felix and Miriam Neureuther give private insights into podcast
Podcasts are also a key topic. The former German ski ace has his own format, but is also always in demand as a guest. For example, Felix and his wife Miriam Neureuther were recently invited to "Spotlight" by former national goalkeeper René Adler and actor Milan Marcus. There, the likeable winter sports couple gave some insights into their lives – including pregnancy observations by grandpa Christian Neureuther and rewards for the children's poor religious grades.
The talk started with funny anecdotes about Felix Neureuther's popularity. The 39-year-old is also very popular with the slightly older population – which his wife Miriam underpinned with stories from the local supermarket: "He always found someone to put his shopping in his basket. And then, as a thank you – they were mostly older ladies – he paid for the purchase and carried it to the car. That was always his ploy."

Older ladies have to help Neureuther with shopping: Ski idol describes ludicrous supermarket scenes
How did it come to this? Felix Neureuther pointed out his wife's somewhat imprecisely worded shopping list and explained himself as follows: "Then you get this list and then it says, for example, detergent or flour. But then there are 20 different types of flour, 100 different types of detergent. Which one should I buy now? It's completely too much for me."
And this overload seemed to be visible to the former ski ace when shopping in Garmisch. But help always came quickly – without Neureuther really wanting to do so, as he continues: "I don't even talk to the ladies, they come up to me. They say, 'Mei, can we help you with something?'" Neureuther then shows the list and says: "Shame here, I have these lists and I have no idea what to buy." With a "Yes, of course, Bua" you start – and the shopping is done in no time at all.

Neureuther confesses to being overwhelmed in the supermarket and still comes back "totally happy every time"
In the general laughter during the podcast recording, Adler already smells the headline "Felix Neureuther makes old grannies work for him" and immediately asks whether Neureuther already has something like favorite grandmothers. The former slalom specialist can't really deny that. "There are actually already those you know. They keep coming back and saying, 'Oh, now you're back, let's go.'"
However, the father of three does not seem to be bothered much by shopping with the older ladies – on the contrary, as Miriam Neureuther emphasizes once again. "He then reciprocates by saying, 'I'll pay for the purchase and carry it straight to the car.' They don't care about paying, they just think it's nice that they helped Felix. He then chats with them and comes back from shopping totally happy every time." (akl)
