Palestine's unprecedented journey at the Asian Cup of Nations ended in the round of 16 this Monday evening against Qatar, winner (2-1) at the Al-Bayt stadium.
The Palestinian selection, which had reached this stage of the competition for the first time in its history, lost against the host country and defending champion of this Asian Cup.
The Palestinian results were particularly followed as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to rage in the Gaza Strip, and many Palestinian flags and supporters wearing keffiyehs were visible in the stands.
A minute of silence was observed before the meeting.
Oday Dabbagh, the Palestine striker, opened the scoring against Qatar.

The Palestinians were, however, the first to create good chances and opened the scoring thanks to Charleroi striker Oday Dabbagh (37th), author of a fine number in the Qatari defense before finishing with a cross strike perfectly placed.
But Qatar, winner of the competition in 2019, quickly reversed the trend, through Hassan Al Haydos on a corner (45th + 6) then by Akram Afif on a penalty (49th).
He will face the winner of the match between Uzbekistan and Thailand in the quarter-final, scheduled for this Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. (Paris time).
Earlier on Monday, Jordan also qualified for the quarterfinals, at the expense of Iraq, beaten 3-2.
