Luis Tejada, Panama's all-time leading scorer, died at the age of 41 of cardiac arrest.
Tejada played with Panama in the 2018 World Cup and came off the bench against Belgium and Tunisia.
Tehada, nicknamed the "Matador", is a leading figure in his native country since he became the top scorer of the national team thanks to the scoring of 43 goals.
The reports state that the player felt chest pains before a match in the local league, and during the match he fainted.
He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
However, after a few minutes, he was pronounced dead.
