The French handball players will be received by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron this Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Elysée the day after their European coronation in Germany, the fourth in their history, announced the Elysée.
The Blues reconquered the continental trophy ten years after their previous success in the competition, defeating Denmark after extra time (33-31), the three-time reigning world champion, in the final on Sunday in Cologne.
This fourth European title after successes in 2006, 2010 and 2014, places the French, reigning Olympic champions, in the position of favorites for the 2024 Olympic Games organized in Paris (July 26 - August 11).
“After the world title of the women's team in December 2023, this victory further marks the success of the entire French handball federation, its volunteers and its clubs, to develop the practice of this sport at all levels, renew talents and place national teams in the best conditions six months before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” greeted the Elysée in a press release.
The players of the French women's team, world champions in December, were also received by the President of the Republic.
