Douglas Costa, former FC Bayern Munich player, has found a new club.
He moves back to his homeland.
Munich – Former Bayern professional Douglas Costa, who was threatened with prison last year, is not moving back to Europe but is apparently joining a club in his native Brazil.
As the newspaper
Globo Esporte
reports, the technician is about to be transferred to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro.
There he will receive a performance-related contract until 2025.
Ex-Bayern star about to move to Brazil
The move to Brazil comes as quite a surprise, as the 33-year-old actually agreed with the Turkish club Samsunspor.
The contract was negotiated, there was a verbal commitment and the medical check was also planned - but Douglas Costa changed his mind at short notice and canceled the move.
Douglas Costa has been without a club since October 2023 and his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy has not been extended.
He is said to have earned the equivalent of 4.2 million euros annually at the MLS club, but at Fluminense Rio de Janeiro he will play for a significantly lower salary.

His original plan was actually completely different.
Douglas Costa really wanted to go back to Serie A at Juventus Turin and would have even played there for the minimum wage of 2,000 euros net per month.
However, the Italian top club refused, as the Italian online portal
Calciomercato
reported.
The 33-year-old played for the “Old Lady” from 2017 to 2020.
Douglas Costa's return to FC Bayern turned out to be a flop
The strong dribbling winger was even under contract twice with FC Bayern Munich.
He initially moved to Säbener Straße from top Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015 for a fee of 30 million euros and initially impressed with strong performances.
He secured a regular place under then head coach Pep Guardiola, but this was lost under successor Carlo Ancelotti.

After leaving Juventus in 2017, he returned to Munich on loan three years later - but without much success.
He was signed in the last days of the summer transfer window as a kind of emergency solution by the then sports director Hasan Salihamidžić, as head coach Hansi Flick had vehemently called for reinforcements.
In retrospect, Costa's return to FC Bayern can be described as a flop (
