The wildest dreams of Algerian supporters will not come true.
Approached by the Algerian Football Federation to take over from Djamel Belmadi, ousted following the defeat of the CAN, Zinédine Zidane will not be the new coach of Algeria.
According to
RMC Sport
, Alain Migliaccio, the agent of “ZZ”, would have transmitted the “polite refusal” of the former glory of the Blues during a meeting with representatives of the Federation this Sunday in Paris.

Still without a club since the end of his second term at the head of Real Madrid (2019-2021), Zidane had also been approached by Manchester United and Brazil before the advances from Algeria.
Some members of his family, starting with his father, had even pushed him to seriously consider this option.
But the former captain of the France team decided to wait before putting on the mantle of coach... or selector, even though he has never hidden his ambition to one day coach the Blues.

Fox or Lopetegui for the “Greens”?
Still in search of a new coach, the FAF would turn to other avenues and would have, again according to
RMC,
notably checked the name of Julen Lopetegui, former coach notably of Sevilla and Real Madrid, and more recently of Wolverhampton.
Another name comes up insistently to raise the bar at the head of the “Greens”: that of Hervé Renard.
A time coveted by the Ivory Coast for an improbable loan for the rest of the CAN, the current coach of the French women's team has already made it known that he would not go beyond the Olympics at the head of the Blue.
