The rumors of Xabi Alonso's early departure seemed to be off the table for the time being.
The announced departure of Jürgen Klopp from Liverpool could change this.
Leverkusen – The situation at the top of the Bundesliga table is getting worse again.
While FC Bayern did their homework with a skeleton squad in Augsburg, Bayern Leverkusen missed out on their third win in a row and are feeling the breath of Munich again.
In addition to the annoyance of the lost points against Mönchengladbach, Xabi Alonso is back on the agenda at the factory club.
Lost point against Gladbach: Alonso wants to stay calm and “analyze”
What was hoped for in the Bavarian capital now happened against Gladbach.
Instead of getting the three points with last-minute goals like they did against Augsburg and Leipzig, Bayer couldn't get past a 0-0 draw in the Rhenish duel with Gladbach.
The lead at the top has melted to two points, and the direct duel between Bayern and Bayer on February 10th casts its shadow.
Reason for nervousness?
Not initially for the trainer in charge.
“If I got nervous now, I would be exhausted in May,” said Alonso after the game.
The loss of points is of course a shame, but it is now important to analyze and “remain calm”.

Meanwhile, the future of the Basque on the Leverkusen coaching bench is being involuntarily analyzed again.
While the danger of a move to Real Madrid in the summer initially seemed averted, new rumors popped up after the end of the Jürgen Klopp era in Liverpool was announced.
The club, to which Alonso has a similar bond as the Whites, will have to look for a new coach.
It is unlikely that Alonso will not at least be among the candidates.
Furthermore, Real, FC Bayern and the Reds would be the clubs for which the ex-Munich player could probably leave his contract, which is valid until 2026.
When asked the obvious question about the office in Liverpool, Alonso is initially closed.

I’m safe here right now.”
It is of course clear that Alonso will help shape the title fight this season.
Nevertheless, Liverpool FC will also work towards rapid planning security for the coaching position next season, including negotiations and speculation.
Meanwhile, FC Bayern will be fine with any kind of disruption from their biggest rival.
