The German national handball team wants to go as far as possible at the home European Championships in 2024.
Andreas Wolff, Juri Knorr, Johannes Golla – who has what salary?
Munich - What's in it for Germany's handball players at the home European Championships 2024 (January 10th to 28th)?
The successor to defending champion Sweden (2022 European champions) is being sought at the European Championship venues between Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Mannheim and Munich.
DHB team: Germany is hosting the 2024 European Handball Championship
It all started with a furious opening game by the DHB team against Switzerland (27:14) in front of a world record crowd in Düsseldorf.
For the German handball stars, the tournament in their own country is the ultimate opportunity to move out of the shadow of “King Football” and into the spotlight.
There is the giant goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, a man between the posts like a bear.
Or the 23-year-old playmaker Juri Knorr, trained at the top international club FC Barcelona and currently perhaps the only world handball star in the German national team.
Or captain Johannes Golla from Flensburg, who not only leads the way with a lot of commitment and will and takes on a lot of responsibility for his colleagues on the board.

Salaries of German handball professionals: Juri Knorr is not number one in the DHB team
With the exception of keeper Wolff (Industria Kielce), all German players earn their living at home in the Bundesliga.
In addition to Wolff, there are a total of three European champions from 2016 in the European Championship squad: Stuttgart's Kai Häfner and Jannik Kohlbacher (Rhein-Neckar Löwen).
With Justus Fischer and Renars Uscins (both TSV Hannover-Burgdorf) and Nils Lichtlein (Füchse Berlin), three reigning U21 world champions are also there.
So it is the famous mix of old and young that national coach Alfred Gislason, who found new love after his wife died of cancer, has on offer.
The star is Knorr, who was born in Flensburg.
But: Does that mean the backcourt shooter deserves the most?
No!
Four players should receive a higher salary.
This emerges from a report by the
Editorial Network Germany (RND)
.
The top earner in the DHB team is therefore the man with the captain's armband.
But: How much do handball professionals actually earn?
The overview.
Salaries in the DHB team: Who earns how much?
Golla is supposedly ahead of Häfner and Wolff

Salaries of German handball professionals: They are significantly lower than footballers
The table also shows: Handball players generally earn significantly less than football professionals, who, if they are under contract with top international clubs, have annual salaries in the millions.
Nevertheless, the income of handball players is certainly impressive.
