In four months it will be 10 years since the sensational victory of Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague, and there are those who recognize a similarity between that surprising team and the current Maccabi Tel Aviv, which is fighting for its place in the playoffs.
Ask Tyrese Reiss, the hero of that journey and an avid Euroleague fan today.
"From the outside it looks like there's a lot of similarity between the teams," Reyes said on the Eurohops podcast.
"They have a lot of players who know how to play pick-and-roll, they have forwards who can explode, players who can close games in the last minutes. And when you have good guards, it's always good. Their back line creates a lot for them, so I definitely see the similarity."
Rhys reveals that he has known Bonzie Coulson from a very young age, when he was a little boy.
"His dad was my assistant coach in college, and he was a cute little kid who hangs out at our practices. I've known him since he was 8-9 years old. It's funny to see him playing at Maccabi now. He's a great player and continues to improve every day," Reyes said.
"Like high school friends."

Reyes also returned to memories from a decade ago, and talked about the "roller coaster" he says he experienced as a Maccabi Tel Aviv player.
"That season was full of ups and downs. People remember how I played at the end of that season and think that's how it was all season, but it really wasn't like that. I learned a lot about myself this year, and I made friends for life. They lifted me up. We are good friends to this day This one. It was an amazing group, it felt like we were in high school together. We did everything together, meals, training, hanging out. It really helped me get by. There were a lot of difficulties that season, but with their help I overcame everything. Thanks to them I realized that I could be a star in the EuroLeague, be Europe's top player."
