The promotional campaign for the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region for the 2030 Olympic Games in the French Alps made an unfortunate error by using a photo of a… Swiss landscape.
An error noticed by a reader of “ Nouvelliste ”, and immediately confirmed by the local newspaper.
Wishing to highlight an idyllic landscape with a chalet and a blanket of snow, PACA has, in fact, highlighted the Val d'Hérens, a Swiss valley.
A coincidence when we think back that the French candidacy was favored over that of its Swiss neighbor on November 29.
An image found in a database
Even the Swiss Minister of Sports allowed himself a small remark.
“It’s a good choice, the Val d’Hérens is a magnificent region.
Beyond this choice, the French Alps have landscapes which fit just as well with the image of the Olympic Games,” he recalled.

As for the PACA region, the press service explained that the visual should first be used for 2024 wishes. “The image was found in a database at our disposal”, we assume from “ Nouvelliste ".
“It was an unfortunate mistake due to too rapid communication.
We should have checked three times,” finally concedes the region’s press service, which has since removed all of its visuals.
The organization of the 2030 Olympic Games is off to a flying start!
