Saudi Arabia is stepping up.

The latest mega project: the gigantic Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium.

The World Cup games are scheduled to be played there in 2034.

Qiddiya - Higher, faster, further - Saudi Arabia is driving forward its football ambitions with mega investments.

The latest mega project: a gigantic high-tech arena.

The plans for this sound incredible: The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is to be built in Qiddiya, 45 kilometers from Riyadh, on a 200-meter-high cliff and offers space for 45,000 people.

The Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) is responsible for this.

Their executive director of sports strategy, Barry Bremner, says: “We’re not just building a stadium.

This is the mother of all stadiums!”

Games of the 2034 World Cup are to be played there.

In the future, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium will also become the home venue of Ronaldo Club Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

The magnificent stadium will have space for 45,000 people.

The design features a retractable roof and pitch, as well as an LED wall with hundreds of meters of screens to provide fans with an immersive experience, Qiddiya Investment Company said in a statement.

“The futuristic venue aims to reinvent the traditional stadium concept,” said the QIC.

The LED wall is designed to reveal views of the city below.

According to QIC, the LED wall will be “a portal for live event broadcasts, high-definition films and laser shows, offering guests a new, immersive experience with every visit.”

Visitors will be able to enjoy “multiple spectacles in a single day, including football, boxing, esports, concerts and theatrical performances” while gaining access to “live data and information, including the use of cutting-edge holographic technology that enables virtual interactions with celebrities and stars”.

Qiddiy should become a lifestyle destination

Bremner: “Just as this stadium is not just a stadium, the city of Qiddiya is not just a city either.

It is a lifestyle destination.” When planning, QIC looked at the best arenas in the world - and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium “surpasses” everything: “We are not just a benchmark of stadiums.

We are a new global typology.”
