A man suspected of having burglarized the home of MMA champion Ciryl Gane on September 2 in Nogent-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) was acquitted on Tuesday by the Créteil criminal court.
The public prosecutor had requested four years in prison with a committal warrant against Kamel Z., 27 years old, for this burglary which she had considered committed by
“seasoned individuals who were careful not to leave almost no trace"
.
He was accused of having burglarized the home of the mixed martial arts (MMA) champion, while the latter was fighting in Paris at the Accor Arena and his partner had gone out to take their two children to the nanny, recalled the president .
The Créteil public prosecutor's office estimated the damage at 100,000 euros, including a Rolex watch.
According to the public prosecutor, Kamel Z. was arrested in possession of a wifi box in which there was a SIM card from a telephone line belonging to him and which was limited to Nogent-sur-Marne at the time of the events.
Information on the existence of this telephone line was transmitted by investigators from the banditry suppression brigade (BRB) of Versailles to their colleagues from the territorial security of Val-de-Marne.
But for Kamel Z.'s lawyers, Nassiha Amghar and Jean-Christophe Tymoczko, this number communicated by the Versailles police did not belong to their client.
The other investigations, telephony, exploitation of surveillance cameras, neighborhood survey and detection of DNA traces, had yielded nothing, they recalled.
The defendant, with a long criminal record with seven convictions including six for aggravated theft, contested the facts during the hearing, which lasted barely an hour.
“I have nothing to do with all of this, I did not participate in this burglary
,” he affirmed, indicating that he had been present
“in Paris”
on the evening of the events, which he had not not said during his custody.
He is in pre-trial detention in another case, suspected of having ordered the violent burglary of the home of radio host Bruno Guillon on the night of September 26 to 27: he was arrested on October 30 as part of this investigation .
“I did nothing and we are talking about my record: I have the impression of being judged for my record, I had sentences, I did them
,” he defended himself in court .
