Does the miniseries hold up without the defense chief?

Argirios Giannikis is still unbeaten as the new coach of TSV 1860 Munich.
He has collected five points since taking office with the Lions.
Munich – When Argirios Giannikis sent three fresh players onto the pitch after an hour of play, there was a jolt through the stadium.
In the next ten minutes, the previously sluggish Lions team displayed virtues that enthralled the fans, who had been reserved for a long time on Sunday: joy of playing, fighting spirit, desire to score and morale.
“It was clear that a lot could still be achieved if we brought in fresh guys,” said Julian Guttau in the direction of the invigorating joker trio Michi Glück, Manni Starke and Mansour Ouro-Tagba: “In the end, we will reward ourselves.
In the end the 1-1 was almost a bit annoying.”
The fact that the Lions downshifted again as soon as they had equalized against Sandhausen is another story.
The bottom line, however, was that the mini-series started under Giannikis held up with one win and two draws - five points for new Lions confidence.
The end of the goal drought: six goals in three games
Does anyone remember the No Goal Lions?
The 1860 team was ridiculed when it remained scoreless for a longer time than ever before in five competitive games between November 11th (3:2 in Saarbrücken) and January 20th (4:1 against Duisburg).
The offensive crisis cost Maurizio Jacobacci his job, was tackled by U21 coach Frank Schmöller (first goals in the 4-1 friendly win against Tyrol) - and now dealt with tactically by Giannikis.
Six goals in the games against Duisburg, Lübeck and Sandhausen (1:1 each) – we can build on that.
Like Morris Schröter, Guttau likes the new style of play with momentum on the wings and himself as a half-space striker behind Lakenmacher.
Comeback qualities and Giannikis' good joker touch
For many opponents, the Lions were a grateful victim in the first half of the season.
1860 lost three games after leading 1-0 (Lübeck, Aue, Ingolstadt) - and if the team fell behind, the oven was out anyway (eleven defeats).
The fact that the Lions at least made up for a 0-1 deficit on Sunday is a little encouraging - as is Giannikis' good joker hand.
The fact that he can liven up tough games with substitutions (see Lübeck, see Sandhausen) sets him apart from his predecessor Jacobacci.
Stable to series production?
English week will show
4:1 at the start, 1:1 after being ahead, 1:1 after being behind.
Every game under Giannikis was different, and the passive phases were still far too long, but the bottom line was five points from three games - which now corresponds to the longest unbeaten streak that 1860 had in the first half of the season (Dresden 0-0 , Münster 1:1, Freiburg 2:0).

How stable the Giannikis Lions really are will be shown in the next English week.
The program includes duels with ex-Lions Marcel Bär (Saturday in Aue) and Michael Köllner (Ingolstadt, February 11th) - and on Tuesday the catch-up game against Essen (7 p.m. in the live ticker from the Grünwalder Stadium).
“We want to stabilize the team and continually score points,” said Giannikis.
Focus on sport despite the unrest in the environment
Most hugged lion after the Sandhausen game on Sunday: Vice President Hans Sitzberger, voted out by the board of directors after allegations of indiscretion.
The fan camp is divided on the question of who deserves the buck - the team doesn't seem to mind the resulting unrest.
Squad complete?
Sports director Werner leaves possible new additions open
Giannikis used the three-pack of games in the English week to get an overview of his squad.
With the exception of Tarnat, Kurt and the injured Zwarts, all professionals played.
Given Verlaat's suspension in Aue, Lang's loan could take revenge - and despite the six goals in three games, 1860 still wants to do something up front.
Sports director Christian Werner said on Sunday: “Basically, we trust our team.
We also have an excellent coach who will once again bring out the potential.
Of course we'll see if we can still take a shot at certain points, but only if everything fits perfectly." (ULI KELLNER)
