The turn of the decade in Formula 1 is on its way: according to a report by the Spanish "AS" and several media outlets in Italy, 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who for the past 12 years leads the Mercedes team, with which he won 6 world championships, is getting close to moving to Ferrari Starting with the 2025 racing season, when he will spend the upcoming season still at Mercedes.
According to the report, the final details have probably not been finalized yet, but the 39-year-old driver dreams of overtaking Michael Schumacher and winning an eighth world championship.
When if he does it in the red car he will also become the first driver to win a world championship for three different teams.
The person who is apparently behind the surprising move is Fred Vasor, who was appointed to Manel Ferrari at the beginning of last season and worked with Lewis Hamilton during his days in the Formula 2 circuit. Recently Vasor admitted that he and the British driver have a particularly close relationship when he said at Christmas that he talks to Hamilton every day.
This transition mainly affects the Spanish driver Carlos Sainz, who will probably be forced to leave the Italian team.
There were talks between Sainz and Ferrari about extending the contract, but they broke down and he currently has a contract until the end of the upcoming season only.
