Highlights: Tennis: “Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?” tense exchange between Benoît Paire and a supporter in the middle of a match. “We are professional players and we know that people bet. When people attack us on social networks, we try to ignore it. But when it’s in the stands and someone threatens us, I don’t find it terrible,” Paire concluded. A little earlier in the day, the same type of incident happened during the match between Gaël Monfils and Flavio Cobolli.

LE SCAN SPORT- While he was playing his round of 16 at the ATP 250 in Montpellier against Harold Mayot, the Frenchman was challenged by a fan who claimed to be waiting for him at the end of his match. He did not like this attempt at intimidation at all and the tone rose quickly.

Accustomed to media outings and speeches that hit the headlines, Benoît Paire this time had a good reason to get noticed.

During his match against Harold Mayot, a spectator told him that he

would “wait for him at the end”

which was not at all to the French player's taste.

At a press conference after his match, Benoît Paire explained that the threats came from a history of sports betting.

“We are professional players and we know that people bet.

When people attack us on social networks, we try to ignore it.

But when it’s in the stands and someone threatens us, I don’t find it terrible,”

Paire concluded.

A little earlier in the day, the same type of incident happened during the match between Gaël Monfils and Flavio Cobolli.

The spectator had been evacuated from the stands.
