One of the champions in the UFC, the British Leon Edwards, was interviewed on the "UP FRONT" podcast and praised Conor McGregor for his contribution to the MMA industry and the development of the top organization in the fighting world.
Edwards said: "I think he's great for the sport. He's definitely brought the sport forward for the fans. He's one of those guys you either like him or you don't like him, but he is who he is. What he's accomplished in the sport, you can't take that away from him."
"He became the first ever world champion in two weight divisions. So even though he says all his shit, he's actually a good fighter, behind it too. He definitely helped the sport. He didn't take anything from it. He definitely gave more in terms of pushing the MMA for the mainstream".

The champion clarified when asked about the legal issues and entanglements of the Irishman: "I'm not a fan of his, I judge him from the competitive part, the self-promotion part. His personal life is his own business."
Recent rumors have suggested that Edwards, the current welterweight champion who has already defended the title twice, is set to put his belt on the line against Bilal Muhammad.
